On July 8, SOLer K3 set off in reality on yacht Picco Bello to race around Bornholm in this years race, part of Warnemünde Woche, but, unfortunately, his attempt came to an abrupt halt with catastrophic rudder failure - his story and pics are here.

In the SOL race, there was one SOLer who, with less than a year's experience of Sailonline, resolved publicly to be on the podium. Patrick70119 is a young man of exceptional character who has impressed everyone on SOL with his enthusiasm, skill and good attitude. This was not the first time he had resolved to reach a podium but for some of us, there had been a pattern of improving performance that indicated this race might actually see him succeed.

The race progressed, all boats sailing nicely, but as we rounded Bornholm it was clear that Patrick was in a fine position to do well... until the last half hour when it became obvious that his track would miss the finishing line. No sign of Patrick in race chat but with moments to spare, his boat changed course, he arrived in chat (much to everyone's dellight) and grabbed his first SOL podium spot! Remember the name folks, Patrick Butler - there is no doubt that one day he will be a world class sailor if he chooses to pursue his real sailing with the same tenacity and aptitude he shows in SOL!

Congratulations are also due to Hew565 and to Neuroman without whom the finish would not have been as nail-biting as it was! Bravo guys!

Regata dell’Accademia Navale 2026

Welcome to Sailonline’s partnership with the City of Livorno (Leghorn say the English) in cooperation with the local yacht clubs and the Italian Navy, offering all the online opportunity to race the famous Regata dell’Accademia Navale - 630nm in length. Starting and finishing in Livorno, this year the race takes you the length and breadth of the Tyrrhenian Sea via little Mortorio (Mortoriotto) off Sardinia to Capri and home again to Livorno. This race also counts towards Sailonline’s Magical Mediterranean Series and the SuperBuddy title. Online, you will be sailing a Mini 6.50, to give you a match against several of the real-life entrants, which you will be able to track on-screen!

Rommel by Balloon 2026 - Through the Sahara


Generalfeldmarschall Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel may have been that chivalrous, gallant tank commander of legend, led astray by the Prussian military traditions of loyalty and chain of command, but one thing he wasn’t, was mad. So, let’s do it anyway – not stick to the coast and the battle for logistical superiority – but depart the oases of Siwa south west into the desert for Agadez and its uranium. And let’s go by balloon, it’s only 2500km (1250nm)!

Falklands to Tasmania 2026

Welcome to yet another all-new route. This next race is part of our Ocean Championship as well as the ROW series. Falklands to Tasmania, is like last year's island to island. It’s one of the longer ones 6400nm, more than half way around the world (and the Antarctica). It starts the 2026 OCQ2, and will be sailed in our Steinlager 2, contrary to prior notice.
