RACE 3 RESULTS

FELICIDADES rafa!!! CONGRATULATIONS KarmaFish and Tyger!!

What a difference a day makes! Having had two speedy races in Days 1 and 2, this third race of the trio turned into a war of attrition. Fickle, light and shifty winds left boats "beached az" or turning creative circles in the water. It is therefore very much to the credit of our podium that they brought success out of this crazy day on the water! Well done guys!

In the real race with a sensibly abbreviated course (9nm) and inverted handicap start (slowest boats first), xthyra and Musigny finished in a little over 6hrs.

RACE 2 RESULTS - 1 August 2013

ONNEKSI OLKOON karriv and hmm!! TILLYKKE SKOVSER!

Another fast race with the battle for podium being probably one of the closest in SOL's history. A total of 26 boats arrived within the first minute, so our podium three are to be lauded for their ability to grab the top spots - there was no room for error and you made none! Bravo guys!

In the real race our "boys" finished in 4h 20m 9s.

RACE 1 RESULTS - 31 July 2013

GOOD ONYA GnT!!! ONNEKSI OLKOON jkniemin!! CONGRATULATIONS Danny!

A fast and furious race in which those who concentrated, read the winds, understood the polar and sailed with precision did really really well. Some of us are just enjoying the day on the water! Until tomorrow folks!

In the real race xthyra and Musigny finished in 3hrs 21mins after a fairly bumpy sail across a choppy lake. Overall this gave them 10th place in their class.

RACE INFO:
SOLers xthyra and Musigny wish to welcome you to three very short sprint races, raced one a day for three days on Sweden's Lake Vättern. This is the first time Sailonline will be buddied with a Swedish yacht club and we are delighted to host a virtual version of this year's Holmgrens Vättern Kors & Tvärs .

This is the seventh year this series of races have criss-crossed this lake in central Sweden and it is our task to try and do better in our brand new 11 Metre OD yachts, designed for us by 76Trombones than xthyra and Musigny in theirs!

NOTE:Even though it is possible that local conditions on each day may result in a last minute course change for the real boats, Sailonline's "house rule" is that course changes affecting pre-set start DCs will not occur within 24hrs of a race start!

Race 1: 31 July @0900utc - Karlsborg to Vadstena (20nm)
Race 2: 1 August @0900utc - Vadstena to Hjo (23nm)
Race 3: 2 August @0900utc - from Hjo and back to Hjo (37nm)

New Ice Age 2026 - Scott Base to Neumayer Station

To complete our DN circumnavigation of Antarctica and our 4-race ice-boat marathon series, we continue clockwise, now departing from Scott Base back to Neumayer Station. It’s about 3500nm back as well, which, as said if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you much more than five days. And remember: charts down here are unreliable – what is land and what is ice?!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Tenerife to Fernando de Noronha

The sixth race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us back up the Atlantic to Tenerife, from whence we will depart on a classic transatlantic passage to Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha. It’s 2150nm as the albatross flies, but you will undoubtedly have to take some and sometimes sudden detours to get your Volvo 70v4 through the doldrums stretching across your path from the Amazon to the Niger.
