RESULTS:

FELICIDADES rafa!!! ONNEA karriv!! GRATTIS atlet!

Well done to SOL's podium who managed to grab the top three spots ahead of a fast-following fleet - so fast that 66 boats arrived in the first ten minutes (the first 12 boats within a minute of each other!). For all that. no-one was as fast as Jakob who had acquired a fast motorboat for his birthday and showed it off to us by distributing grog throughout the fleet, before mooring on an island to make a staging post for us. Lorelei Jakob, for that was his name at this point, attracted a goodly crowd past his island before he shut up shop for the night, leaving the fleet to continue racing.

Today, April 18, is Jakob's birthday so, GRATTIS PÅ FÖDELSEDAG, Jakob - Thank you for SOL!

RACE INFO:
Jakob, one of the two co-founders of Sailonline (SOL), has a birthday this Thursday. Without him and Kalle there would be no SOL, so, every year, we celebrate our good fortune in finding SOL by surprising him with an impromptu Birthday Beer and BBQ Party. OK, so as its an annual event its not really a surprise but a birthday party is always good!

The Stockholm Archipelago, where SOL was born and Jakob lives, is notoriously tricky sailing, so we shall start racing on Wednesday evening to give us all a chance to be ready to party at some point on Thursday.

Please tell all SOLers you know to come and join in. See you at the start!!

Regata dell’Accademia Navale 2026

Welcome to Sailonline’s partnership with the City of Livorno (Leghorn say the English) in cooperation with the local yacht clubs and the Italian Navy, offering all the online opportunity to race the famous Regata dell’Accademia Navale - 630nm in length. Starting and finishing in Livorno, this year the race takes you the length and breadth of the Tyrrhenian Sea via little Mortorio (Mortoriotto) off Sardinia to Capri and home again to Livorno. This race also counts towards Sailonline’s Magical Mediterranean Series and the SuperBuddy title. Online, you will be sailing a Mini 6.50, to give you a match against several of the real-life entrants, which you will be able to track on-screen!

Rommel by Balloon 2026 - Through the Sahara


Generalfeldmarschall Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel may have been that chivalrous, gallant tank commander of legend, led astray by the Prussian military traditions of loyalty and chain of command, but one thing he wasn’t, was mad. So, let’s do it anyway – not stick to the coast and the battle for logistical superiority – but depart the oases of Siwa south west into the desert for Agadez and its uranium. And let’s go by balloon, it’s only 2500km (1250nm)!

Falklands to Tasmania 2026

Welcome to yet another all-new route. This next race is part of our Ocean Championship as well as the ROW series. Falklands to Tasmania, is like last year's island to island. It’s one of the longer ones 6400nm, more than half way around the world (and the Antarctica). It starts the 2026 OCQ2, and will be sailed in our Steinlager 2, contrary to prior notice.
