BRISBANE-NOUMEA RESULTS

GOOD ONYA jhk1980!!! GOOD ONYA GnT!! CONGRATULATIONS NZL_yachtyakka!

There is clearly some Southern Hemisphere magic to sailing from Brisbane to Noumea - to have the podium entirely filled is a super achievement, especially when considering the SOLers ranging against you. What's your secret? Well done indeed.

AUCKLAND-NOUMEA RESULTS

PARABÉNS nacrr!!! FELICIDADES rafa!! CONGRATULATIONS NZL_yachtyakka!

For the first time in 2012, the SOL fleet was sailing alongside boats from the real fleet, and apart from two speedier hulls, it was good to see that we performed competitively (well, we were sailing the Steinlager 2 polar). The first three SOL boats into Noumea, representing three continents, outdid the rest of us to grab the laurels. Nicely sailed guys!

Update 5 June: lots of good info/links/analysis here.

Update 3 June: PICS - Auckland Start

_________________

Sailonline is delighted to have been approached by the organisers of Sail Noumea 2012 to buddy-up for both legs, from Brisbane and from Auckland, in this year's running of the Sail Noumea race.

From Brisbane, SOLers will be racing First 47.7s, while from Auckland we will be directly competing with Steinlager 2. SOLers will be able to follow the fleets via their Yellowbrick tracker pages:

Auckland
Brisbane

SOLers will also be able to see the real boats on the SOL race screen - their names are prefixed with @ in the Boats tab and they show up as orange boat-shapes on the race screen wherever they may be (pre-race, even on land!!).

Let's see which race has the biggest fleet!!

New Ice Age 2026 - Scott Base to Neumayer Station

To complete our DN circumnavigation of Antarctica and our 4-race ice-boat marathon series, we continue clockwise, now departing from Scott Base back to Neumayer Station. It’s about 3500nm back as well, which, as said if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you much more than five days. And remember: charts down here are unreliable – what is land and what is ice?!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Tenerife to Fernando de Noronha

The sixth race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us back up the Atlantic to Tenerife, from whence we will depart on a classic transatlantic passage to Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha. It’s 2150nm as the albatross flies, but you will undoubtedly have to take some and sometimes sudden detours to get your Volvo 70v4 through the doldrums stretching across your path from the Amazon to the Niger.
