SUCCESS!!!! Full story here

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive and currently incurable brain disease and together with forms of parkinsonism can horribly reduce an individual’s dignity and ability to live life to the full.

Bryn Williams, the founder of the small UK parkinson’s charity, Wobbly Williams (and Funding Neuro) is living with Parkinson’s Disease but has chosen not to let it diminish him.

On January 12, Bryn and a small group of trekkers (including Jennifer Reoch, the current Miss Scotland, and Gavin Hastings, a former British Lions Rugby player) will start up Mt Kilimanjaro on The Greatest Climb - named in honour of the impending 70th birthday of Muhammed Ali on January 17 when the team are due to reach the summit.

On the same day SOL will start its own Greatest Climb race, which will replicate on the waters off E Africa the exact path of the trek being undertaken on Kilimanjaro! There is a SOL Forum Thread here.

There are many charities around the world working to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease/parkinsonism, and all we ask is that you consider making a donation – either to Wobbly Williams/Funding Neuro (mention SOL) Donate hereor to a parkinson’s charity in your own country.

Three SOL baseball caps have been generously sponsored by NOR_Svein for the Wobbly Williams team to wear and we hope to get pics of them being worn at the start of the trek. In return, SOL has been promised a WobblyWilliams TryAthletes shirt signed by Gavin Hastings, a former British Lions Rugby player, who is trekking in support of his wife, and this will be awarded to the SOL race winner!

Rommel by Balloon 2026 - Through the Sahara

Generalfeldmarschall Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel may have been that chivalrous, gallant tank commander of legend, led astray by the Prussian military traditions of loyalty and chain of command, but one thing he wasn’t, was mad. So, let’s do it anyway – not stick to the coast and the battle for logistical superiority – but depart the oases of Siwa south west into the desert for Agadez and its uranium. And let’s go by balloon, it’s only 2500km (1250nm)!
