CONGRATULATIONS Rhino!!! GRATTIS sassy!!! GRATTIS theviking71!!! A very different Vineyard Race which, this year, required steely concentration rather than an ability to ride hurricane winds and waves! Well sailed!!

UPDATE 6 September Stamford YC is awarding Race Baseball Caps to the SOL Podium!!! Be on the lookout for an email from me (RainbowChaser) asking for your postal addresses!!!

The Stamford Yacht Club of Stamford Connecticut welcomes SOL to the 77th running of the 238 mile Vineyard Race. Because it is run during hurricane season, this race can challenge sailors with a variety of weather conditions as well as narrow passages with strong tidal currents at the Race or Plum Gut where local knowledge and a bit of luck often win the day.

The first Vineyard Race in 1932 had twenty-three entries and over the years has had as many as one hundred and thirty yachts competing, attracting the finest sailors and swiftest boats from the US east coast and beyond. The fastest time completing the course was set by Stamford Yacht Club's Reichel/Pugh 66, Blue Yankee, in 20 hours, 20 minutes and 15 seconds.  Beat that if you can!!

Blue Yankee has registered again this year after a few years absence and is in a division that includes Aurora which was a former Blue Yankee, so it will be “old” BY (Aurora) vs “new” BY. Let the battle begin!

New Ice Age 2026 - Scott Base to Neumayer Station

To complete our DN circumnavigation of Antarctica and our 4-race ice-boat marathon series, we continue clockwise, now departing from Scott Base back to Neumayer Station. It’s about 3500nm back as well, which, as said if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you much more than five days. And remember: charts down here are unreliable – what is land and what is ice?!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Tenerife to Fernando de Noronha

The sixth race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us back up the Atlantic to Tenerife, from whence we will depart on a classic transatlantic passage to Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha. It’s 2150nm as the albatross flies, but you will undoubtedly have to take some and sometimes sudden detours to get your Volvo 70v4 through the doldrums stretching across your path from the Amazon to the Niger.
