************ The celebrations are building in Turku -having organised Tall Ships races in 1996, 2003 and 2009, Turku is no stranger to hosting these event for visitors and crews alike. As the European Capital of Culture there is a double celebration so look [here](http://www.turku2011.fi/en) to see what is on offer! After a slightly longer visit, the ships will then leave Turku for Gdynia in Poland on Monday, 29 August. Gdynia is also no stranger to welcoming tall ships and is in fact home to the floating museum on board Dar Pomorza, considered one of the most beautiful of full-riggers. Gdynia is a modern city set in a scenic coastline. Remember to check out SOL's Google Earth overlay for this race - go to the Races Link at the top of this homepage and select Google Earth from under the race information block. This way you can sightsee and SOL at the same time! SOL is again sailing a Class A Tall Ship and will be trackingfour of the real tall ships (look for boatnames beginning with @ in the Boats Tab). To see how your boat will perform, just click on the boat silhouettes below.

Welcome to the fourth leg of our MIG series. This time we're racing the Sooty Shearwater on their migration from the breeding grounds in South America to the northern Atlantic. New Ice Age 2026 - Scott Base to Neumayer Station


To complete our DN circumnavigation of Antarctica and our 4-race ice-boat marathon series, we continue clockwise, now departing from Scott Base back to Neumayer Station. It’s about 3500nm back as well, which, as said if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you much more than five days. And remember: charts down here are unreliable – what is land and what is ice?!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Tenerife to Fernando de Noronha


The sixth race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us back up the Atlantic to Tenerife, from whence we will depart on a classic transatlantic passage to Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha. It’s 2150nm as the albatross flies, but you will undoubtedly have to take some and sometimes sudden detours to get your Volvo 70v4 through the doldrums stretching across your path from the Amazon to the Niger.
