The PRO & the Vice Commodores of Sailonline Yacht Club (SYC), in line with the Sailonline Board’s direction, determine the racing calendar, the weather forecasts that shall prevail, and select the boats and courses to be sailed. Each officer is responsible for all the necessary actions related to the races they manage, such as:

  • developing and coordinating with real-life yacht clubs and race organizers the running of ‘buddy-up’ events
  • moderating the Sailonline Forum pages to ‘hear’ our members and discover new racing opportunities
  • selection, set-up, launch and closure of the races under their remit
  • being a point of reference for operational matters (weather update delays, server issues, etc) with the races under their remit
  • moderating Race Chat to ensure that proper standards of language are maintained in the races under their remit

Certain overall race management responsibilities are delegated as follows - Officer (Reserve):

  • Calendar Production - bonknhoot (Patrick70119)
  • Forum Publications - Renegade (fastpassage39)
  • Boathouse Maintenance - bonknhoot (StIngFI)

The Executive Officer, separately, is responsible for:

  • proposing and updating the SOL Racing Rules (SRR) in accordance with Board direction
  • assembling and chairing Protest Committees, as and when necessary
  • convening Netiquette Committees, as and when necessary

The Sailonline Coordinator, finally, is responsible for:

  • coordination between the Sailonline Board and the executive team of Flag Officers
  • Series Championship rankings, prizes and distribution
  • quality assurance

If you're tired of high temperatures, we suggest a change of scenery and a visit to the Arctic Ocean. SOL invites you to the next ARCH race, which will take place on a new route spanning over 650 nm around the Svalbard Archipelago. Beware of polar bears and don't take them on board your Xp-55, because while they may look pleasant, they are very dangerous.

Captain Gosnold TIMED Memorial Race 2025

Welcome to Newport, RI, one of the great sailing centers of the world. This TIMED race takes us around Nantucket Island in RC 44s to celebrate the life of Capt. Bartholomew Gosnold who, among many other things in his short life, named Cape Cod for the teeming fish he encountered there, and Martha’s Vineyard for his daughter. This is a TIMEDrace so you may RE-REGISTER HEREto try again after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.
