    Looks good.
I only have one wish though, change the colour on the instrumentpaneltext from green to a flourescent red/orange.
It mixes in with the weather on the chart too much now.

    Fun idea!
    Just a couple of questions:
Order of the Spanish Main: "Complete" Carribean. What does "Complete" mean? We have done some some Carribean races in the past.
Emerald Shellback: Equator Crossing at prime meridian. Margins to the prime meridian? limits?
Golden Shellback: Equator crossing at 180th meridian. Same question as above... it's a big ocean...:)

    Svein,
You are not getting rid of me that easy and besides you are wrong. I'm not in int to win, I'm in it to learn, understand and maintain a level of skills to be used in real life, on a real boat. And if the competition is getting harder it is just a good thing. If I am not first I learn something. Due to little time over for VR sailing I want real races and as there are very few on SOL I will look elsewhere, it's just as simple as that. I would like to have them here but they are not. I'm am the kind of person who is speaking up when I think things are not as the should be. This is such a case. It's a bit disappointing as this is probably the best simulator. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. There are no fingers pointing anywhere, just don't like the way it is developing right now.

    Hi Jeroen,
I would gladly try to help if I could and had the time to spare but I'm already over my head as it is in real life. I have more than once asked about big real races and often wondered why we are not in them even when the races are known and talked about in the chat. Also races we use to do. A lot of races was missed this year and no one seems to care. It's a bit disappointing since this was one of the reasons to use SOL. And another question: Inport races? Are there any this time?
  • Re: Real Races...?
Board » Flag Officers » Races
Sorry but I'm not happy with that. If it is up to the sailor what races are to be sailed then it's obvious that the real races are not a priority, and as it has developed it sometimes feels like it is a playground for a selected few. This is not what it once was. I will not continue my membership and will also look elsewhere for real races.
    Best of luck.

Why does the SOL Ocean Race start nov 6th when it starts nov 5th everywhere else..?
  • Real Races...?

Why are we not racing parallel to the real races anymore...?
Yeas I know the NZ was a real race but a lot was missed.
The Middle Sea Race is on and we are not in it. A lot of solo/twohand races was missed like the mini transat.. A lot of races has just gone by without any notice. This is one reason I look at other sites for racing and if SOL wants new sailors I think it's a must. All the made up, backyard races are just fine but I think real races should be a priority. This is not as attractive as it ones was...

New Ice Age 2026 - Browerville to Longyearbyen

Our 2026 long-distance ice-boating challenge continues with a second race in Arctic waters, now from Browerville, where we arrived less than a month ago, continuing east, back to Svalbard’s Longyearbyen, leaving Canada’s Ellesmere Island to port and Denmark’s Greenland to starboard. It’s about 2500nm, which, if there’s wind at all, should, well-wrapped in your DN-cockpits, not take you more than a day or three, thus to complete your first (of several) online circumnavigation of the planet of 2026!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Samoa to Hawaii

The second race of our new series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones, takes us northward again up the Pacific Ocean, now from Samoa at 13.5 degrees South, across the Equator to Hawaii, famed for its breaking surf and active volcanoes, on the edge of the Tropic of Cancer at 19.5 degrees North. Beketov by Balloon 2026 - In Siberia

Way-back-when France and England, and Spain as well, were squabbling about who should control what of North America, only to lose the most of it to their own insurging colonists, their eastern European neighbour empire, Russia, was quietly assimilating vast, thinly nomadically populated territory of its own – Siberia! Amongst the many explorers and adventurers that served Russia so well in these conquests was the Cossack hetman Pyotr Beketov. Let’s pretend we’re he and eschewing horseback, let’s travel by balloon from Yekaterinberg to Krasnoyarsk – just a short 2000km (1100nm) section of the Trans-Siberian Express’ 9289km!

West Papua to Oregon 2026

Our next race in our Ocean Championships is the first of a series of great natural migrations we will track in 2026. The leatherback turtle is the most widely distributed marine reptile on planet Earth, and chooses to breed in warm tropical waters, but prefers to forage in more temperate habitats, travelling thousands and thousands of miles effortlessly annually to maintain this way of life. Our race will follow one of the typical trips of this turtle, from breeding grounds in the seas off West Papua to the coast of Oregon. It’s only 5900nm, so to keep up, but in comfort, we’ll follow in our Gunboat 90.
