Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a public game API and if so, if it is documented anywhere? I have seen some tools that seem to use game data, and this seems to be accepted use, but I have not been able to find any description of the proper way to do this.

Alternatively, I could look at the requests the official client sends. Would this be acceptable use or is it frowned upon here? I have read that people use third party programs for routes, so would third party clients, with additional functionality, be acceptable?
phreeza,
You may find some of the tools you are looking for at some of the sites sol'ers have contributed. Unfortunately Aaron is gone. His tools and contributions still live on.
AGage's blog and tools: http://soltools.wordpress.com/
Philip's (soler Schakel)blog and tools: http://daysailer.wordpress.com/
Markku Hänninen's (soler hmm) sol history of races site. He uses data from sol site, and can be contacted via link on his site: http://sol.hmm.iki.fi/sollog/races/
Eddie Durst's (soler brainaid) site. Info on polars and tools for handling DCs, etc:http://team-yacht-treff.de/

Directly you can email crew@sailport.se for info. If you have some coding skills and a bit of time to contribute, I'm sure Kalle, Jakob and hmm would love to talk to you.

The API is not documented (at least now) but it's not very hard to figure out by looking at how the client interacts with the server.

Both me and Aaron built our tools basically that way (me with some help from Aaron) and if you are interested in doing that you can email me at hmm@iki.fi if you have any questions.

The Vineyard Race 2025

For the first time since first hosting a virtual Vineyard in cooperation with Long Island's Stamford Yacht Club back in 2010, due to an operational calendaring error, Sailonline has missed the start of the real life race, the USA’s Labor Day weekend this year unusually falling across the turn of August. Silly SOL! So, a week late please join us anyway for a virtual rerun of Stamford’s iconic annual overnighter from their club line out the sound to Buzzard's Bay Light near Martha's Vineyard Island and back again, leaving Block Island to starboard. This year, Sailonline is making its magic MC 38 available to competitors, a race boat with a quirky polar that will require you to stay wide awake as you speed around the c 250 nm course, in rockstar style!
