Definitely will do the whole race even if I finish stone dead last on every leg
I like to talk a lot... sometimes I even make sense, mostly not...
I was introduced to SOL by NEWSARTIST...still my number one mentor, but quickly learned who to watch, Agage was always on my radar. News still tells me don't sail follow the leader style, but sailing in Agage's wake allowed me to learn many things about wind and sailing.
When Beta was introduced my favorite feature was creating boat lists. Agage was always on that list....To Aaron's family: I LOVE SOL because of Agage!!!!
Just started racing again after finishing my summer season job and am sad to hear such sad news of Agage passing away. As FortAdamsRI say he was always on my radar too. I never knew him personnely but he was always helpful with a sence of wit that could make me smile 1000s of miles away.
I was shocked to discover today that AGAGE had passed away. This is a late tribute to him as a person I found to be friendly and helpful, it sounds a little silly to talk about someone one has never actually met as being a friend but this is how I thought of him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP AGAGE and I hope the sailing is good wherever you are.

Terry.
Having not visited SOL since the end of the last VO70 Round World Race I was shocked today to hear from Terry O'Neill that our friend Aaron had died. Many times he helped me, and today I reviewed all of his emails with great sadness.

This is a quote from one of Aaron's emails, including his "smileys" -

"I highly recommend you read 76Trombones' post 'Ramblings on Routers' - it explains a lot... Yes it is also the name of his blog, but I mean the actual post here - indeed all of his posts are worth reading, and then reading again a month later ;-)

As I mentioned, as you probably know anyway - SOL, like any other sport, virtual or not is VERY competitive at the top end of the fleet. Not to say we aren't all friends, and if I had seen WINSTON (or ita10267 or Gilles etc) looking like he was going to run aground I would certainly have sent some warning emails or something, but we still all want to win, while maintaining much respect for each other. Which is another thing I like about sailing... Seems there is more sportsmanship than in some other sports I have been involved in.

Finally, please do not ever think you are asking me too much, or taking too much of my time... I am more than happy to correspond with you on anything you like. If I happen to be busy my reply will just be a little later is all ;-)"

This is typical of his generous, friendly, co-operative nature.

My sincere commiserations to his family.

Now that the beta version is finally made the default client, I hope everyone remembers who created it for us.

I also wrote an entry to my blog about the other tools Aaron created for us.
Well said, hmm, and thanks for the link to the tools page; I, for one, was not aware until now checking them out.

We owe a lot to Aaron for his efforts - I just wish there was some banner with his name on the new client!!!

Oooops just realized I posted above under Moongirl - it's really me ;)

A Banner , no bad idea, or maybe a watermark in the map ?

Time again to continue our exploration of Africa by Sea, which now takes us around the tip of the continent at Cape Agulhas and up the coast of South Africa to Mozambique’s marvellous Maputo, where we should find good anchorage in the bend of the Rio Espirito Santo (Umbuluzi) once we’ve cleared the 60m high Maputo - Katembe suspension bridge. It’s 1900nm and we’ll be glad to be sailing our comfortable and sturdy Xp-55, as we will certainly experience more headwinds!

Isle of Wight RTI Sprint 2025

Welcome to the Isle of Wight in the British Isles. A past home to Queen Victoria and the foundation of the America's Cup when yacht racing became popular in the 1800's. This particular race was last raced on SOL in 2012 to follow Soler JuJu sailing around the island. We return, long overdue, to race our final Q2 sprint around the island.
