Board » Technical Support » Big difference SOL map and Sailplanner

On SOL-map the SW point of Noronha is at -3.8778 and -32.4795.
If I make a waypoint in Sailplanner with this position it will be placed 1 NM north of Noronha! (I use the map "SP Atlantic South (GFS)")
Why?

There is also a difference with for example TWA when I sail the same CC at the same position and the same time! That makes Sailplanner difficult to use...
Differences in Maps are quite normal and do happen even in official Maps as a Result of Errors in Positiondetection by the original Measurer.

Did you use the latest SOL-Weather from Brainaids Toolbox (http://sol.brainaid.de/sailonline/toolbox/)?
If so there might only be small Differences due to different interpolation schemes.
How can you use brainaid's weather in Sailpanner?

Thanks!
nacrr
You can't.
The dropdown list on the main toolbar contains the only weather systems you can use...

down loaded sail planner, for leg 2. and I'm registered in leg 2, but when I log in to sail planner, my boat doesn't appear??? I'm using the map for the indian ocean. ????
Sailplanner is not linked to sailonline in that way...

To get your boat or GPS location into SP automatically, you will need the NMEA proxy for the race from brainaid's toolbox, and a program called NavMonPC (very useful in its own right), to get the data from the NMEA proxy sent out on a virtual COM port, that SP can then read from.

Other than that, just drag the boat icon to match your current race location, or the start for pre-start routing, and go from there...

Lake Vättern PYOC 2026

Back in 2013, longstanding SOLer Musigny and his friend xthyra invited us for a three race tour of beautiful Lake Vättern in the heart of southern Sweden. After many years, we return there for a quick sprint from a start in front of the village of Brandstorp, either way around Visingso island in the middle of the lake, but PORT HAND ROUND a buoy off the Granna piers on the eastern shore and back, once again avoiding Visingso as best you can. At least 20nm in trusty Scandinavian 11m One Designs; good luck!
