Board » Technical Support » RNL: no labels on intended course corners

Page: 1 2 Next

when I try to assess a delayed course, the labels are blank, which means I can't enter course or make a clear assessment of delay time.
tatimanerere - I am not quite sure what you mean? What labels are missing?
when I put the mouse on the map, the labels on longitude and lattitude are blank.
when I try to assess a future course, the labels at the corners are blank.
result I can't enter a future course on DC or make a good assessment on time delay.
I have hovered my mouse on the game screen and then adjusted the wx slider forward and returned to the game screen and I see lon/lat labels at the various levels of zoom I used.

I am not a tech SOLgod but I would suggest the following:

1. clear your browser cache completely

2. run a cleaning program to get rid of unnecessary registry/temp files that the browser didn't get.

3. reboot your computer

4. right click on the SOL game screen and follow what pops up - this will notify you if you do not have the latest version of Flash installed.

Let me know how you get on!
Thanks chaser of rainbows
I think the issue may be that I use a Macbook pro, which has a touchpad with gestures sensitivity; hence no right click, no hovering, etc
and
I don't know what the wx slider is.
I have cleared the cache and restarted yesterday, without improvement.
will update to latest Flash.
The wx slider is the weather slider.. ie the little triangle at the LH side of the line between the game on-screen dashboard (showing Speed, Course etc) and the Weather Report date/time.

If you click and hold (Mac equiv) on this triangle, you can slide it all the way along the line to the RH side - this shows you developing weather.

:-)

Look forward to learning how you get on with the Flash issue. I seem to remember reading in chat that Mac's need a specific form of Flash?

Smo - a SOLer from Finland uses a Mac (there must be others) so maybe if you see him in chat and you still have problems you can check settings with him?

Otherwise shout out again here and I will get one of the techie 'Gods to come and help!!
OK, sorted
flash installed, all working labels, chat is standard now.
mac had a block on the adobe products, which was lifted some time ago; now proper flash installed all working.
by the way i did know the weatherslide, just not the abbreviation for it.
thank you, because I didn't set a proper DC i ended up close to the S-island.
Just noticed your dc didn't work either your still going on the same course!!
cheers Maarten
Glad all systems are "go" for you!

Yeps, I forgot I hadn't set a DC so .. ended up having an extended breakfast bbq!!

That's life (on SOL)!! :-D
after installing flash, when at first it appeared to be working OK, on opening up this am found email not working; on restart it got stuck on a corrupt file and did not reboot or start up.
now with the mac doctor, so not good.
tatimanerere - oh no!! :-( that's horrid. Hope you resolve it soon.. did you download from the Adobe site itself?

Hope you get it all sorted out soon.

Rommel by Balloon 2026 - Through the Sahara

Generalfeldmarschall Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel may have been that chivalrous, gallant tank commander of legend, led astray by the Prussian military traditions of loyalty and chain of command, but one thing he wasn’t, was mad. So, let’s do it anyway – not stick to the coast and the battle for logistical superiority – but depart the oases of Siwa south west into the desert for Agadez and its uranium. And let’s go by balloon, it’s only 2500km (1250nm)!

The third race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us southeastward now down the Pacific, from Guam’s Apra Harbour at 13.5 degrees North, back across the Equator to the glorious New Caledonian resort island of Ouvéa, on the edge of the Tropic of Capricorn at 20.5 degrees South.
