Board » Technical Support » loading problems

I run two macs and 1 pc all with Firefox. Recently one of the macs and the PC have struggled to load the game viewer.

Now on the PC I get the viewer loaded but with a blank white screen - no boats wind etc and the message Loading weather and read www.sailonline.com

On the mac it loads but with a massive distortion of the game viewer so I have to scroll left and right to view the boats - and no info in the righthand pannel

Meanwhile the second mac is fine (perfect in fact)

I have tried

1. rebooting
2. emptying cache and reseting the browsers
3. Downloading the latest version of Flash

Any thougts?

MummaDuck - I have drawn your question to the attention of the more technically minded SOLgods.

All that you have done thus far is what I would have suggested!!

Let us know how you fix the problem once you do... will be good info for future SOLers!!

:-)
Not sure what the problem might be. Try downloading Chrome for Mac and see if it helps, it bundles its own flash player.

Kalle - Rainbowchaser - thanks... weird thing is it is working on my other mac no problems and same set up!

I have Crome and have tried that - its better than the other browsers but is still struggling with the INFO box on the right (no windspeed info or VMG info for a new course is showing)

Cheers

MD
You might try installing the firefox addon called 'Firebug' which is a debugger for firefox (dont worry this isnt complicated!)

Once installed, start firebug (there is an icon in status bar to the far right - use right click)

Now click on the 'NET' tab in the firebug window at the bottom of firefox (this displays network activity) and open the sailonline race.

Atleast with this tool you can confirm that the data is actully being received (or not) by your browser... There must be some difference between your 2 mac's if one is not functioning properly, perhaps a firewall setting or something?

I have included a screenshot of it on my system for you to compare.
I help develop the client interface for the best online ocean racing sim there is... __/)/)_/)__

Sinbad by Balloon 2025 - Carnarvon to Dondra

From here, our home in Bharatavarṣa is now north west of us – said Sinbad to his fellow balloonists. Perhaps we can ride the wind first further north, and then catch the winds that every year bring the rain, perhaps not. It’s 2600nm and we could be aloft awhile, so, Master el-Quarters, victuals only, no sandbags, provisioning the giant hamper. It will be not a picnic!
