I am just trying to understand!;
275 miles to go to buenos aires, I used measuring toll on the screen from my boat to finish, cc was 282 and when cursor on finish line showed me on top right cc 283 which is normal due to the world's shape... so I fix my course to cc 282 and left the boat to sail to the finish.

this morning I just wondered my finishing position and I found my boat nearly 20 miles south of the finish line on the rock!

I check my track if I made a mistake with my commands but did not see any mistake still gives the same figures so why this happened?

now the question is; which compass course we can rely on ? and what was the problem?

Assuming you weren't on a TWA course, Both the plotting tool (the compass button) and the cursor read out give a Great Circle course. Which is the shortest route. If you had entered the course from reading them @ 250~ mi you would have been a couple of degrees off a direct chart course. The only way to set a direct course to a point more than 80~mi away is to use the red line in on the course picker tool (the "helm" button). Other wise you will have to adjust your course every 80~100 miles (depending on proximity to the Equator).

We invite you once again to this SOL classic around the Middle Sea, departing from and returning to historic Valletta. Loseley modelled on an IRL classic often sponsored by a luxury wristwatch purveyor, our c 600nm course takes us north as far as Stromboli, then west of Sicily and south to Lampedusa and back to Valletta probably via the strait between Malta and Gozo. This year we will race it all in very Meddy Dufour 40’s!

There promises to be plenty of breeze from every point on the compass as we sail the Farr 38 around Chatham Island, Pitt Island, and The Forty Fours on this 124 nm course. Christmas to Christmas Island 2025

Two waypoints, start and finish, and between them 5827 NM of two oceans. Not much time if we want to sit at the Christmas Eve table. You will need to maintain an average speed of over 10 knots, maybe quite possible with this Maxi Trimaran, but prepare your vessel well and choose the best of the many possible routes. Hands up everyone who knew there were TWO Christmas Islands?! OK, maybe you have sailed this Sailonline course before... but it's time to get ready for the 2025 challenge of racing between Christmas Island in the Pacific to Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean!
