"1.4. Starting procedure

All boats are towed back to the starting line 1 hour before race start. From 1 hour before the start, until the start, the boats are held at the starting line. A command executed during this period will be the initial command for the boat at the start.

Example: Race starts 18.00 UTC. If a player sends a command, TWA 55 degrees at 17.32 UTC, the boat will sail TWA 55 degrees at 18.00 UTC when the boats are released.

Please note that you can also use a delayed command to be executed during the prestart phase - it has the same effect." ----Sailonline manual

As can be seen by the screen capture in previous post I had a delay command set for 06:08 hours. It obviously did not go off.
I found out this morning that there was a 12-13 min delay in the call back. If I had not awakened at around 07:05 UTC and found my boat not started, I could have been hours behind.
If the call back and start are not automatic and have to be entered manually, perhaps some software should be written to save delay commands set for the hour before the posted start. Then to execute these commands on the actual call back, no matter how late it may be.
As it is now, it is not fair to anyone who sets a prestart delay according to the posted instructions that occurs before a late call back.

Thanks, you are on to something here that we really need to look into. Thanks!
...one of the guys behind the game...
Can I add something here in that this race (B-B Leg 2 from Nice) was delayed for 2 days and I set a DC for the original start time that was then used in the practise sailing and not carried through to the actual start. It was OK as I was around for the actual start but if I had not have been, I might still be on the start line...Unlikely, but possible...

I got caught by a DC command not executing too - I discoverd it at 7.15
Leg 3
For some reason mine also did not work. When I went in after some 2 hours after the start, due to work pressures, my boat was still in park mode. Now im not sure if it was my finger trouble or a glitch.Lesson learnt, make a point of being at the start!
I too had a problem with my delayed DC course start. Also beached a couple times due to DC not working. Just assumed I did something wrong.

Surfsmith
It always pays to check to see what DC are stored. Click on the clock and then the two green arrows.

I always try, TRY!! to check my tacks and gybes have the correct +/- signs . . . and even then I can make mistakes!! LOL
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
