Tonight I used the mobile client for the first time on my phone. The chart display was virtually unreadable on all zoom settings, making the client impossible to use. By the time I could get to my laptop my boat was already way past the mark and I had to double back - losing over 15 miles and a lot of places.

After some trial and error I found the problem. In my Sony Eriksson W810i phone there is an option in the Advanced menu (only available when viewing a webpage) called 'Smart-Fit'. This is turned on by default. Turning this option off fixed the problem. This had not caused problems before with other webpages so I don't know why it should only affect SOL.

I hope this info can be of use to other people with the same phone (and maybe other Sony Ericsson phones).

I had a bit of a rant in the chat room earlier. Apologies for that but I felt so annoyed at the time.

I have that phone too and didn't see a difference in the display after turning smartfit off.

The boat is still centered off to the west of the map.

Yeah I wish it would have improved my map view too :)
Do you set the page to be shown vertical or horizontal?
I use vertical for SOL. Doesn't change the way it draws the map though.

Iceland to the Falklands 2026

Welcome to an all-new route, the first of three Round the 'Old World' of Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. To give each leg of the ROW a bit of length we'll try to hug the coasts as little as possible, so starting in Iceland our first leg of the series, which will also be the final leg of our Quarter 1 Ocean Championships takes us 7200nm to the Falklands, the full length of the Atlantic end to end. To make sure we'll get it done within the month we'll be sailing our Maxi Trimaran.
