Board » Technical Support » The dreaded double login in IE and Firefox

I have only one machine I can log in with, and only using IE.
All my other machines and browsers get the second login box in the center when I try to login.
Cookies and java are enabled
I can get by using just IE on my laptop, but I would like to use my machine at work too.
(I attached a screenshot)
thanks,
BT

Try on other PC/machine to log into "www.sailonline.org"

The "www." may be needed. This was an earlier issue. IE seems to work OK with just "sailonline.org"
If it breaks, it's not strong enough!
I have the same problem. Works ok on 2 of my machines, but not in Firefox on my primary one (only in IE) I can't see any difference in Firefox settings and indeed disabled my extensions in Firefox for a while to see if any conflict. No difference.
The new client is brilliant otherwise, but the lack of breeze in the malacca straits is driving me mad.
I *think* I fixed this a while ago, but try clearing your cookies on the machines giving you trouble.
Gave that a go - no joy. Think I'll just carry on with IE on that machine. Cheers
Simon
I cleared cache, cookies, history, autocomplete, etc manually and with a little app I like to use called ccleaner. Tried full re-boot before and after clearing stuff.
ANyway, I'm still sailing and thanks to no extra fees for steer to wind and delayed course changes I don't need 24hr access to the website! The machine I can get on with is a laptop so I can take it with me.
Thanks for a great game.
Weird that can't get on even with IE on some machines though.

Is it possible that it is a java issue?
I have had to uninstall java and all updates and reinstall the newest version
to fix some glitches like this before.
(I say that not knowing what java really does or if it is even utilized in sailonline).

I am an auto mechanic and customers always ask if it could be something bizarre and unrelated. When car won't start they say "maybe it is because the window makes noise when you roll it down" or something like that.

I solved my login problem today...

I had login saved on my laptop from my initial registration and it worked every time.

On every attempt on other machines I wasn't starting my user name with a capital B.

D'OH!

-Sorry to be a troublesome bugger
No problem, glad you found the cause of you're problem.

Happy Sailing

Rapallo to Nador 2026

Welcome to Liguria’s Rapallo, there where Zarathustra spoke - at length - to Nietzsche, for our first race of nine to celebrate all things Mediterranean - fickle winds, history and olive oil. A number of our races in this new Magical Mediterranean series will be partnership with famous real-life races, but this first race is pure fiction - 780nm in refurbed IMOCA 60s, past or through the Balearic Isles and on into the Alboran Sea, to a finish off Nador on the Maroc Mediterranean coast.

Red Eye - Melville Island PYOC 2026

Melville Island is the largest of the Tivi group opposite the port of Darwin in the Timor Sea. Tropically forested and thinly populated, not a lot goes on there, but let’s race around it anyway, lar- or starboard round, it’s a little more than 120nm, so, no matter where you are navigating from on the planet, you will be hard-pressed to complete the course aboard your J-80 in daylight hours!

Cross the Convergence 2026 - Guam to Ouvéa

The third race of our series of ocean voyages across the World’s convergence zones takes us southeastward now down the Pacific, from Guam’s Apra Harbour at 13.5 degrees North, back across the Equator to the glorious New Caledonian resort island of Ouvéa, on the edge of the Tropic of Capricorn at 20.5 degrees South. It’s 2400nm, and there’s more than a few other islands in the way, so mind where you go in your Ocean 50s. Race #1981
