Are there any Solers who are members of the Royal Ocean Racing Club?

My reason for asking is that, as some of you know, SOL wanted to buddy up with RORC for one or two of their races.
Because of the group of SOLers participating in the Fastnet Race 2013, we had wanted to run their two qualifying races using the official name. On behalf of SOL, as I am a long-standing member of RORC (now overseas), I approached RORC to this end. Unfortunately, they felt that it would be inappropriate for SOL to run the qualis as the Fastnet race itself would be off-limits (due to an already existing virtual partnership).

Apart from these races, RORC has a really good racing calendar and it would be great if SOL could still buddy-up for the "less prestigious" ones.

We can't force RORC to visit our site and see the degree of involvement of our participants and the sophistication of our software but I was thinking that if several SOLers are members of RORC, we could perhaps write a joint email to the Race Committee and invite them to look at SOL? We need more weight behind our approach if we are going to get any attention!

Tall Ships 2026 - Stavanger to Aalborg


Welcome to the fourth of four virtual Tall Ships Races in European waters which are concurrently being organized in-real-life by Sail Training International . This fourth race is from Stavanger in Norway into the Skaggerak to a finish off Denmark’s Aalborg and perhaps an Aquavit to toast the adventure afterwards – a final circa 250nm in Sailonline’s classic Clipper 240.
NOTE: Starts and Finishes in tall ships racing are always offshore to avoid conflict with shipping and shipping lanes; online and real-life may not match exactly.

Chinook Salmon - Canada to Andreanovs


A year after spawning in the upper reaches of the rivers of British Columbia, Chinook Salmon develop the age-old urge, so familiar to SOLers, to go to sea, heading for different parts of the northern Pacific Ocean. This race catches up with a particular school with an instinctive memory for the Andreanov Islands far west on the Aleutian Islands chain, as they depart the Salian Sea between Vancouver Island and the San Juans. It’s 2200nm and we’re taking the 60ft Trimaran, in the hope we can keep up!
