Commentary

A change in the weather forecast just before the start meant that the previously better southern route near Prescott Island suddenly lost compared to the northern route over Stephens Island. This probably caused the fleet to be divided into two main parts. Supporters of the northern route and a bigger group of supporters of the southern route. The next WX change confirmed the advantage of the northern group and at last, the race was decided.

Ultimately, the victory went to WRmirekd, who led from the beginning of the race. FreyjaUSA, alert as usual, took second place after TarassBoulba's rudder failure. CriticalHippo took advantage of the moment when Zorba was at BBQ and took third place on the podium. Be sure to read the report. The best from the southern group, justmer8, reached the finish line only in 10th place, over two hours behind the leader. Congratulations to the winners and those who made the race more interesting by choosing the southern route.

Welcome to the fourth of our nine races across the length and breadth of the Magical Mediterranean Sea, and the second that is not in partnership with a real-life event, this time for good reason, which we won’t get into here. From Tobruk to Iskenderun it’s 670nm in length, with the added complication that the island of Cyprus will be in your way. Hoping, possibly forlornly, for plenty of downwind sailing, we’ll take the Lagoon 55 for the voyage!
