Commentary

Although the wind on Lake Iliamna hasn't stunned our DNs, we can safely say that the series of ice races are gaining momentum. There were indeed stronger gusts that drove our iceboats crazy, but there were also moments when we had to push them. The numbers speak for themselves, the average speed in the previous race was about 1.5 kts and now it's almost cosmic 10 kts 😊. We were sailing near the shore this time, so you could quickly jump on a small BBQ without losing your position. The most cold-resistant FreyjaUSA completed the race in 14 hours 31 minutes and 52 seconds. WRmirekd, second on the finish line, tried to reach for some warming agents, which cost him missing the Kakhonak Bay mark and 29 seconds behind the winner. Vida_Maldita, third at the finish line, somewhat accustomed to higher ambient temperatures, due to the cold, missed the last mark by a hair, losing the chance to win and 2 minutes and 32 seconds to the winner.
