Sailonline is delighted to announce that we will also be partnering with Ocean Racing Club of Victoria, for the running of the Melbourne to Hobart “Westcoaster” Race 2023, a 435nm blue water ocean classic, which starts in Melbourne, Australia, on Monday, December 27, at 13:00AEDT (02:00UTC).

The Westcoaster is a thinking man's race offering an alternative blue water classic and tactical challenges for those looking to join in the Hobart celebrations in the lead up to New Year's Eve.

The race starts inside Port Phillip, progresses out through The Heads (a dangerous bar) and then it's across Bass Strait, quite the notorious stretch of shallow tidal waters, and down the west coast of Tasmania known for its rugged coastline and pristine wilderness AND almost nowhere to hide from the winds and seas of the Southern Ocean.

Online, you will be sailing a Dehler 47, a sound and solid raced which should love the varied prevailing conditions along the west coast and round the southern coast of Tasi (pronounced Tazie). But beware, the race is often won or more often lost in the last leg up the Derwent River to Hobart!

The Sailonline virtual race will open for practice on Monday, December 20, at 02:00UTC, allowing everyone some time to learn the ropes to be competitive.

Valletta Sprint 2025


We invite you once again to this SOL classic around the Middle Sea, departing from and returning to historic Valletta. Loseley modelled on an IRL classic often sponsored by a luxury wristwatch purveyor, our c 600nm course takes us north as far as Stromboli, then west of Sicily and south to Lampedusa and back to Valletta probably via the strait between Malta and Gozo. This year we will race it all in very Meddy Dufour 40’s!

Chatham Island TIMED Chase 2025

The final TIMED race of 2025 takes us to the isolated and mysterious Chatham Islands archipelago 430 nm east of New Zealand’s South Island. There promises to be plenty of breeze from every point on the compass as we sail the Farr 38 around Chatham Island, Pitt Island, and The Forty Fours on this 124 nm course. This is a TIMEDrace so you may RE-REGISTER HEREto try again after finishing a run. You will have 13 days and 11 hours to test your skill and decision making after the race opens.
