Board » Sailonline Race Committee » Races » 40 Series - Ratings

Good morning all.

I open a new thread related with boats "Ratings" to all who may be concerned, namely for the SOL 40 Series Scoring process.

In first place I recommend all to have a reading on the following link:

http://www.orc.org/index.asp?id=31,

from ORC.

Under ORC Scoring program the boats "Ratings" can be achieved in #4 different ways.

As an example, for the PCS method (Performance Curve Scoring) there's already available (free) Software for calculating the "implied wind" and Corrected Times using a Performance Curve - link:

http://data.orc.org/tools.php?c=pcs.

If we gather some SOLers with a minimal expertise on handling this issue, I'm sure we can make it work for the 2019 40 Series.

The word to You.

Hi JB and thank you for your research.
This will be borne in mind when SRC and the Board of Directors are considering the SOL 40' Series for 2019 and thereafter.

In the meantime we have a remaining nine races in this 12 race series where people are steadily using up their quota of the 'hot' designs.

SWR 17/18 Leg 11 Gothenburg to The Hague
Then we've made it to Gothenburg.
And with the experience that The North Sea can be just as rough as the Southern Pacific.
Ok, it's time for sailing our final leg to The Hague, with a little detour around the Danish city of Aarhus, a so-called "fly-by".
And beware – the North Sea can still be very tricky, so fair winds to you all.

Sail Fiji 2018
Welcome to Sail Fiji 2018.
This time there will be no RAYC IRL fleet to beat, so we have the 1144nm from New Zealand to Fiji ahead of us, in our "old" Volvo Ocean racer, the VO70v4, completely to ourselves.
The time set in 2016 was a little under 66½ hours, done by "outlaw".
We can do better this time, can't we?
