Series Leaderboard
Once every three years, indomitable and tough yachties race in reality out from Auckland, across the Hauraki Gulf on an adventure of a lifetime – circumnavigating New Zealand’s North Island. With wild weather arriving from the Southern Oceans and the Pacific, this is not a race for the inexperienced or foolhardy, as conditions can prove immensely testing on both boat and crew. For the third time, Sailonline was buddied with the real event organised by the Short-handed Sailing Association of New Zealand (SSANZ) and we were able to bring the entire racing fleet on-screen in our virtual race, which brought a real sense of inter-participation. Sure, we were racing virtual Young 11s from the comfort of our armchairs, but it was fascinating to see just how comparable were the performances across the real fleet.

There were four podiums in our real event and each of these, together with our series top three, are to be congratulated for putting in superb performances in interesting conditions:
