With very strong winds hurtling in from the Atlantic, the IRL race organisers decided at short notice to delay the real start. SOL, however, did not have to pay attention to safety as we sail in all winds and all conditions. Finding top boat speeds around 14kts as we surfed our way to the Dublin finish was tremendous fun - images of tall ships, sails reefed yet surfing downwind ran riot! The podium was a close thing with several ships vying for the final top three places. Well done brave SOLers! You are probably the first ever to experience such racing conditions in proximity to other tall ships!

The festivities are under way in A Coruna but shortly our minds need to be turning towards leaving Spain and heading north to Ireland and the warm welcome that awaits us in Dublin!
There are four classes of Tall Ship and for the races this year SOL is sailing a Class A Tall Ship, a 90m Barque with a performance polar derived from published data. Go into the Entry List to see who our competitors are.
